Around the BendAround the bend

It comes by with great speed, and then disappears around the bend.
It slows down, only to wait in line and get a drink from the metal bin.
It eats in its cage in the dark; no one dares to disturb it.
It gets put on a truck, only to go to its next stop in life.
Where will it be this time?

It travels from New Hampshire, to Florida, to Texas, to California.
It stops everywhere in between Iowa, North Carolina, Texas, and California.
It stays for only a few days, and then leaves the deserted place.
It rounds the bend; every now and then it'll slow down to catch its breath.
And then is gone in a second. Around the bend.

The only thing I can figure is that the letters leading Diagonally Spell "add a line to this letter" Which I'm guessing means ad a line to F making at an E in which case I was supposed to try and find the E all along which is 8 rows up from the bottom toward the left.
